Research Request
Whether you’re working on a project or exploring a question about history, photographs, recordings, artifacts, or documents, the Suquamish Museum is here to support community members, students, and scholars in their research. We request that you complete our online request form prior to your visit, to begin your research journey. Approved research requests will be implemented in-person.
Archive Access & Research
All visitors are welcome to access the Suquamish Museum archives by appointment. Some items, however, may be restricted to Tribal members only. A member of our Collections staff will guide you through the materials and let you know which items can be viewed. Our Collections staff will handle all artifacts during your visit to ensure their care and preservation.
- We currently accept research requests in person only. We look forward to expanding to electronic research requests in the future once our systems are updated to support this service.
- Researchers must be at least 14 years of age to submit a request. Individuals under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
- To ensure an optimal research experience, access is limited to two researchers at a time, whether working together or individually.
Tribal members and Tribal government representatives receive complimentary research access. For all other visitors, the first 30 minutes are free, with additional time billed at $50 per hour in 15-minute increments.
Research requests require 1–2 weeks for processing and scheduling. Priority consideration is given to Tribal members and Tribal government representatives. All requests will be processed on Thursdays.
